Cajon Triple Track Project
Cajon Pass, California
Under its Master Services Agreement with BNSF Railway, JLP provided the design of 51 civil structures of varying complexity – bridges, retaining walls, culverts and drainage systems – for the addition of 15 miles of third mainline track from Keenbrook to Summit in the Cajon Subdivision of BNSF, through the undulating and environmentally sensitive Cajon Pass. In addition, JLP was selected in April 2007 to perform the construction management of the triple track, providing the Construction Manager, Resident Engineer, Office Engineer and all field and support staff. The work was carried out under train traffic – this subdivision carries over 90 trains daily for BNSF and UPRR service. JLP was responsible for the complete project: construction management, office engineering, resident engineering, safety oversight, inspection, document control, soil testing and coordination with third-party agencies.
